Bible teaching on
resurrection results

The Bible teaching about Christ’s resurrection results offer crucial information into the nature of His primary work on this earth as it touches humanity. More personally, it offers an extremely key revelation relating directly to you and me. It is mind bending, yet liberating.

There are nine astonishing laws of the universe that were enacted on that day. They mark a dramatic turning point in the history of humanity. Yes. They are that important.

I only have the space to introduce them here. I urge you to look up the verses, ponder them, and see how they relate to your life. It is very good stuff – but also very heavy concepts. Study carefully and prayerfully for understanding. The question: What are Christ’s resurrection results?

Establishes His Righteousness

The Bible teaching about Christ’s resurrection results establishes in history and eternity the availability of the righteousness of Christ (John 16:10). Paul writes that we cannot get to heaven based on our own righteousness derived from our own works. We desperately need another source (Romans 3:20-26).

However, since Christ rose from the dead as the perfect sacrifice for our sins, He can present His righteousness on our behalf. We are then justified, because Christ’s righteousness is given to us – based on faith alone.

Validates the Deity of Christ

His return from the dead proves His Deity. Paul speaks of Christ as one, “who was declared the Son of God with power by the resurrection from the dead” (Romans 1:4; Acts 2:22-36).

The title, “Son of God,” is a reference to Christ being God, or a member of the Trinity. Paul even added another miracle in this section that affirms the Deity of Christ.

That is, Paul said God had promised through His prophets and recorded it in Scripture the first Advent of Christ. Predicting something hundreds of years in advance and having it come true in detail is a miracle.

Proves Effectiveness of His Death

His entrance back into life with His glorified body proves the effectiveness of His death to achieve what it was designed to achieve (John 10:17, 18; 11:25; Romans 5:9, 10; 8:34; 10:9; Philippians 2:8-11; Hebrews 5:7).

The idea is this. The purpose of His death was to legally cancel out the penalty of our sin; consequently, we have been justified and reconciled to God. Christ’s resurrection proves that the full penalty of our sin has been paid. The job was finished. He can go on to other ministries on our behalf, such as interceding for us before God the Father (Romans 8:34).

Makes Our Salvation Possible

Christ’s resurrection results guarantees the salvation of all Christians (Matthew 1:21; Romans 4:25; John 11:25; 12:24, 25). Jesus said to Martha, “I am the resurrection and the life; he who believes in Me shall live even if he dies” (John 11:25).

Another resurrection results is that God was satisfied with Christ’s sacrifice. He became our substitute. It also means that if it had not occurred, Christ could not give us eternal life. In other words, if He couldn’t produce it for Himself, how could He produce it for us? His resurrection completed the work of Atonement, or salvation. It was the final step.

Enabled Him to Send the Holy Spirit

Christ’s resurrection results made it possible for the Holy Spirit to come and help, guide, teach, empower, and accomplish His work through Christians (John 14:26; 15:26; 16:7-15).

In God’s plan of salvation, the work of Atonement, or paying for our sins, had to be accomplished first before the Holy Spirit could come and begin His work. The reason being there would not have been any salvation work to carry out without Christ’s death and resurrection.

Essential For Founding of the Church

Christ’s resurrection results enabled Him to start His church along with His headship of creation (Ephesians 1:20-23; 1 Corinthians 15:45; 1 Peter 2:4, 5, 9).

The point is simply this, if Christ had not risen from the dead, He would still be dead. Consequently, He could not be the head of anything. But, now He is bestowed with Great power, position, possessions, prosperity, and privilege (cf. Philippians 2:9-11).

Establishes His Prayer and Advocacy Ministry

The Bible teaching about Christ’s resurrection results enables Him to take up two very important ministries on our behalf. Those are His constant prayers for us (Hebrews 7:25), and His being our Advocate when we sin (1 John 2:2, 3).

An Advocate, in this sense, is taking a role as your defense lawyer before God. Certainly, God knows of your sins, and is constantly reminded by Satan. Christ, in your defense, defends your case, which is that Christ’s death was sufficient payment for all your sins. It is good to have Christ in your corner. He is a good lawyer with a very good case. God cannot punish you, because Christ paid it all.

Basis for Gifted Men to the Church

We are told that after Christ’s resurrection and ascension, He gave gifted leadership to the church He had just founded (Ephesians 4:8-13). These leaders were given special abilities to organize, train, and lead the church in its mission.

He is the Head, the Holy Spirit circulates among the church with His mission, and the work is delegated to human leaders and members.

Guarantees Resurrection of All Believers

This is where the absolutely great news comes in. Because He came back from the dead, you can be sure you will be resurrected (1 Corinthians 15:20-23; Philippians 3:20, 21). That goes for me too.

The idea is that He rose from the dead, and promised that born again believers in Christ will rise also at a future time. Based on those facts, you and I can be assured that He has the power and ability along with the sincere intention to bring resurrection to us as well. That is great news! Don’t you think so?

These, then, are nine of Christ’s resurrection results that are certain, and locked into God’s plan for you and the universe. Now, these are heavy thoughts of theology. Sometimes as we struggle in our day to day life these kinds of issues seem so distant and unrelated to us.

For example, how do these wonderful and marvelous facts have to do with you or me trying to come up with enough money to pay this month’s rent, or help our kid get better grades – you know what I mean.

Let me submit that the more you know of these complex truths, the better equipped you are when the really big problems come your way – like old age, crisis, serious illness, divorce, bankruptcy – and the big one, death.

Esmie and I urge you to seriously study, pray, and constantly see how these powerful, energizing facts of the universe can fit in your everyday life. All the best, and may God bless.
