QUESTION:
Can you guide me through your paragraph about sin? I just don’t understand. Nothing answers my questions.
Ana
ANSWER:
Ana, it would be better for you to ask me exactly what puzzles you. But, here in a nutshell is what the study is saying.
1. First, Christians do sin. We have an old sin nature that will keep on tempting us until we die and go to heaven. We sin in ignorance of our sin, weakness to temptation, and outright rebellion.
2. Second, Christians do not lose their salvation when we sin. However, we do lose fellowship with God, just as children lose fellowship with their parents when they go wild and disobey.
3. Third, if we confess our sins to God with an honest, open, and sincere heart, turn away from them and back to God, then He forgives us and our fellowship is restored. It is like when a child admits their wrong to their parents. They still may get disciplined, but they are not disowned as children, and fellowship is restored to their parents.
It is good to read Chapter one of 1 John, and the first two verses of chapter two.
Other than this, Ana, please send me a specific question.
All the best, and God bless,
Dr. Newman
